Brian Vertz was elected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in 2003 and earned his credentials as an Accredited Valuation Analyst, denoting proficiency in business valuation theory and practice, in 2006. Mr. Vertz has served on the governing bodies for the Pennsylvania Bar Association Family Law Section and Allegheny County Bar Association Family Law Section. He was a founding member of the Pittsburgh matrimonial chapter of the American Inns of Court. He is the Treasurer of the Board of Trustees for the Crafton Public Library.
Mr. Vertz is known throughout Pennsylvania as an author and broadcast presenter for PBI’s Family Law Update, one of the most-watched programs of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. He is a contributing author to Slicing the Pie: Equitable Distribution in Pennsylvania, as well as Tax Consequences and Estate Issues in Divorce (2012), Valuing the Small Business in Divorce (2012) and Drafting Marital Settlement Agreements (2003, 2008). For more than a decade, he has contributed to PBI’s Fundamentals of Family Law (1994 – 2011).
He has held leadership positions in Toastmasters International and supports hunger charities. He was educated at the University of Michigan, the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business. He is admitted to the State Bar of Georgia, the state and Federal courts of Pennsylvania, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
